On May 16, 2015 Stone Lozano, a 9-year-old from Upton, will participate and ride 15 miles in his first Tour De Cure Bike Race in Topsfield, MA. Stone was selected as 1 of 4 Youth Ambassadors for the race through the American Diabetes Association. He will speak at the event to over 1500 riders and share his story at the Legend’s dinner the night before the race for all those who raised over $1000 for Diabetes.

Stone was diagnosed September 2014 with Type I diabetes after going for his 9 year annual doctor visit. Type 1 diabetes is an auto immune disorder in which a virus attacks the pancreas and it stops producing insulin. Stone gives himself insulin injections 4-5 times a day, as well as has to check to blood sugar 8-10 times a day by doing finger pricks, and ensure we check him at 2am every night so he is safe. He has not let Diabetes control him and still participates in his favorites sports activities. He loves to play lacrosee and soccer.

Stone is riding 15 miles in my first the Tour De Cure to support others who live with diabetes and he knows the money he helps raise will go toward finding a cure one day for everyone living with diabetes.

Please consider supporting Stone and all the others living with diabetes by making a donation today!! Any amount you can give is appreciated and welcomed!! And he’d love to have more riders join his team this year!! You can donate or join my team by clicking on the link
