New data shows that Nipmuc Regional High School performs at the state average when it comes to Advanced Placement Exams while Blackstone Valley Technical (BVT) performs below the state average.
AP exams are scored on a scale of one to five and many colleges/universities count scores of three or higher towards college credit. The Boston Globe recently compiled data on how schools in Massachusetts are performing on AP exams and calculated 68.4 percent of all AP exams taken received a score between three and five.
Of the 373 tests taken by students at Nipmuc Regional High School 68.4 percent of the exams received a score between three and five.
Blackstone Valley Tech students took 386 exams with 35.5 percent scoring above a three.
Surrounding towns with the highest percentage of scores above three are Westborough (95.8%), Hopkinton (80.8%), and Hopedale (73.4%).
Hingham ranked top in the state with 96.7 percent of the 455 test taken earning the 3 to 5 score. Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical was ranked highest among the tech schools at 64.3 percent (only 14 exams were taken in this school).
