Having an elected official speak at the center is nothing new. Using town resources to help sponsor an event given by a candidate for office is unwise.
It’s actually nothing new. Maybe they could have said The Upton Center.
The Upton Center, under the advisory of the Upton Council on Aging are both dedicated to:
Protecting the rights of elders to live independently
Preserving the dignity of aging
Offering support to low-income families, disabled and elders
Responding to individual and family needs
Creating a positive relationship between all ages through intergenerational programming
Providing opportunities for involement within the community
Acting as a rescource to the community
Should an agency of town government be sponsoring a political event?
Okay, that makes sense. I thought you meant just because it was at the Upton Center. Similar to the Superintendent going around doing coffee chats, when people had all the time in the world to get their information.
