Police from area towns including Upton and Mendon have reported incidents involving a middle aged white man in a grey sedan suspiciously approaching young children. Today Mendon Upton Regional School district took a proactive step to keep students in the community safe.
Mendon Upton schools discussed outdoor safety and stranger danger today with all elementary students, held an assembly with middle school students about the importance of not interacting with strangers and reminded students not to approach strange vehicles, and read a statement to high school students about recent events.
In an email to sent to parents the district advised they are in communication with both the Mendon and Upton police.
The district’s school bus company, Tellstone, met with all bus drivers to discuss the importance of being vigilant and observant. Tellstone has also reviewed logistical issues surrounding the pick-up and drop-off of students at each of the bus stops.
Parents were advised to stay vigilant, to write down the plate number if they see a vehicle matching the description and to call 911 immediately.
