Updated 5/20 7:55 a.m. – editors note, original post had the election result numbers transposed.

Selectman candidate Frank Aniello, who missed winning a seat on the Upton Board of Selectman by just 11 votes earlier this month, filed papers formally asking for a recount.

Upton Town Clerk Kelly McElreath said Aniello filed the request on Thursday May 14, meeting the deadline.  The recount is scheduled to take place in the Town Clerk’s off at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, May 20.

The unofficial numbers reported election night had Fleming ahead by 13 votes, later that evening  McElreath announced additional ballots that were not counted were votes cast for Aniello narrowing the results of the race. The official results had Fleming with 568 votes to Aniello’s 557.
