Upton Remembers and Honors – Memorial Day

memorial day 2015

On Monday May 25, 2015 hundreds of Upton residents attended Upton’s Memorial Day events to honor and remember those who served and died defending America’s freedom.

The day began with Veterans performing cemetery services at Lakeview Cemetery, Maplewood Cemetery and the Old Burial Grounds. After the cemetery services the Veteran’s led the annual parade.  The parade ended at Upton’s Town Common where a Memorial Day Service was held.

Prior to the Roll Calls of the Deceased the Commander of the George L. Wood VFW Post Joe McMahon sang God Bless America.  Girl Scout Stacey Goodwin read In Flanders Field and the Nipmuc Regional High School Band performed a lovely selection.

The AL Roll Call of Deceased was read by Russell Wood and the VFW Roll Call of the Deceased by Steve Wickstrom and Shawn Craig.

The ceremony was closed with the National Anthem performed by the Nipmuc Regional HS Band.

Father Larry Breault of Saint Gabriel the Archangel Parish led the invocation and the benediction was led by Rev. Dr. Jan Greagory-Charpentier of United Parish.

The National Anthem was performed by the Nipmuc Regional High School Band.

Lorrie Loeper read “Remember –  Not to Forget”: ASL signer Whitney Loeper.
