Pat Donelan scores the first touchdown during the inaugural game at the Nipmuc campus – Nipmuc 13, Oakmont 0
It was a great day for the inaugural game at Nipmuc. The stands were packed, the pep band was jamming, and Nipmuc stopped Oakmont from getting on the board.
The game began with a bang when Nipmuc’s Cameron Robinson recovered a fumble during the opening kick off at the Oakmont 30 yard line. Nipmuc was able to move the chains thanks to running back Nocera. Quarterback Demarzo pitched the ball to running back Pat Donelan who sprinted past Oakmont defenders and scored. Nocera’s extra-point kick gave Nipmuc an early 7-0 lead.
At the end of the first half with only 39 seconds left Donelan again made magic happen when he took the handoff from Demarzo. Donelan was able to spin by Oakmont defenders and sprinted 66 yards for the touchdown. According to the game’s announcer it was the longest run in Nipmuc history. The score going into half time Nipmuc 13, Oakmont 0.
The second half Nipmuc’s defense was hard at work and didn’t allow Oakmont to get on the board.
