Blackstone Valley Tech HS Girls Varsity Basketball team had a successful year, ending the season 21-4 after being 18-2 in the regular season. This is the second year for the team to hold the Colonial Athletic League Champion title. The team also attended the State Vocational Tournament for the second year in a row “we had a great playoff run, only to lose in the district finals” said Coach Kahler in an email.

I asked Coach Kahler how the players from Upton and Mendon performed this season.

Domenique Silvestri, a sophomore from Upton,  was awarded most improved player at the sports banquet.  “Domenique has become more aggressive and has great post moves” Kahler said.  “She has a wonderful attitude, work ethic, and does all the little things that are necessary to be successful. Dom is the type of player every coach wants to have; coach-able, committed, and a true example of a student-athlete. She is extremely bright and hard working in the classroom as well.”

Megan McFadden, a sophomore from Mendon, “is one of the best point guards in central mass. She was awarded the title of CAL All-Star this year and also received the defense award for our team.  Megan is confident, very talented, passionate and tough. I am so proud to be her coach, as she has a tremendous heart and is a wonder person.”

Overall it was a fantastic season for the BVT Beavers and looking forward Coach Kahler said “I am lucky to have some great players returning.”
