Today a mom was dropping her son off at Miscoe Hill School; he was arriving after drop off time due to a doctor’s appointment. She pulled up to the front door, stayed in the car and let her son out; a common practice. As her son walked in to school, she sat for a minute to review her shopping list. As she went to pull away a police officer turned on his lights. She was ticketed for standing in a fire zone.
Parents frequently stand in the fire zone while dropping off a student during non “drop off/pick up” times. Historically ‘no standing’ in the fire zone has not been enforced.
The question parents are asking today is will they be ticketed in the after school sports/drama/enrichment line which forms in the fire zone and typically extends to the North Street entrance. The students are not allowed to leave the front of the school until they see their parents in the pickup line.
An email has been sent to Mrs. Myers for clarification on pick up procedure for after school sports, enrichment, and drama.
Mrs Meyers is meeting this afternoon with the Mendon Police Department and will have an update later this afternoon/early evening. This was a police department enforcement. Updated 12:45 p.m.
Update from Mrs. Meyers meeting with the Mendon Police here.
I am going to get a photo of it …… and will switch it out.
How is the actual sign written?
