As you all know by this point Tuesday, April 30 is our town election. There will be no candidate listed on the ballot for the Mendon Upton School Committee position but there are two Upton residents running as a write-in for the seat. You may be wondering what is the procedure for writing in a candidate ~ from town clerk Kelly McElreath
To vote for a write in candidate, the voter should clearly write the candidate’s name and address on the line stating (write in). The voter should also mark (color in) the circle beside the written name. After the polls close, the ballots are reviewed and the votes are counted for each candidate. The intent of the voter will be taken into consideration when the ballots are reviewed. The candidates with the most votes will be offered the position.
