Richard Robinson is running as the nominated candidate for the Board of Health position. Richard has a great deal of experience in waste management/recycling and has served on regional and national environmental committees devoted to the improvement of the environment. Here is a letter from Richard giving detail as to why he is running for the board of health position and his qualifications.
Dear Fellow Residents of Upton,
I am running for the nominated candidate for the Board of Health and would like to share some of my background which I believe makes me a strong candidate for this position. While I am a relative newcomer to the Town of Upton where I live with my wife Blythe Robinson, I am excited about serving my community. I am running as the nominated candidate because no one else came forward to secure nomination papers when Sherry Berger decided she could not run due to business demands.
I am not a newcomer to local government and specifically the issues the Upton Board of Health has had to deal with in the past or will deal with in the future. I began a professional career in local government as a city manager in 1972 and have practiced my career trade ever since that time. I have lead large and small organizations alike in the development and implementation of solid waste removal and disposal, recycling, hazardous waste management, sanitary waste disposal and all the other matters that the Upton Board of Health is mandated to deal with. I have been a leader and innovator in the field of local government and was recognized as such by the International City/County Manager’s Association with the Clarence E. Ridley in Service Training Award. I have served on regional and national environmental committees devoted to the improvement of the environment. Since moving to Upton I have been retired from full time employment and serve as a volunteer election worker and a hospice volunteer for the Visiting Nurses Association.
If elected to the Upton Board of Health I will work for all Upton residents and will work with my colleagues on the Board to ensure that all laws are followed and that our community is protected. As the nominated candidate I am asking for your vote on Election Day – April 30th.
