Upton Library’s 3rd Annual Garden Day will be Saturday, May 18th from 10am-2pm.
Proceeds from the raffle and book sale help support the library’s museum pass program and summer reading events, including the upcoming Little Red Wagon children’s theater performance on June 25, 2013 p.m.
Garden Day Activities
Plant Swap
Bring a potted or transplant-able plant and exchange it for something new to grow. All varieties of herbs, flowers and ground covers will be accepted.
Used Book Sale
Gardening books, cookbooks, great summer fiction and more! Browse a large selection of used books.
Raffle
Items and donations from local gardening business will be raffled including a 4 week CSA share from Long Life Farm of Hopkinton, a $120 value, a compound action lopper donated by Koopman Lumber, a $40 value, and an 8 pot collection of herbs from Kelly’s Farm Stand. The raffle drawing will be held at 2 p.m. Raffle tickets will be on sale this week at the Library and throughout the day on May 18.
Learn how to start an organic worm-composting bin
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. – Demonstrated by Marcella Stasa, chairperson of the upton Library; learn how to use worms to recycle table scraps into ideal plant fertilizer. Free starter worms will be available.
Mulching Tips
Noon – Greg Trussell of Upton based Plowman Landscaping will offer mulching tips.
A 3rd Raffle Item has been added – an 8-pot collection of herbs from Kelly’s Farmstand!
