Nipmuc Regional High School Drama Department held their second annual One Act Play Competition on May 10. Three One Act Plays were entered in the competition this year; The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Space Cadets and Take Five. Two of the plays were written by Nipmuc High School Seniors.
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz took Best Play under the direction of Chelsea Daniels. It wasn’t your usual ‘Wizard of Oz’, this was the The Wonderful Wizard of Oz which took a humorous spin on the old standard and the audience loved it. Hannah Neilson was awarded Best Actress for her role as Dorothy.
Take Five was awarded Best Actor – Matt O’Brien as Greg Baxtor, Best Supporting Actress – Alex Stone as Dan Perez and Best Supporting Actress – Sharon Stone as Sarah Prescott. Take Five was written and directed by Brandon Hall. This domestic romantic comedy was about a gal who was cooking up a plot to try to get her man to propose.
Grant Moyer wrote and directed Space Cadets where the audience determined the plays outcome. Space Cadets was awarded Best Audience Participation. This was a tale about Duncan Rogers and his trials at a space academy training school. Grant was awarded Most Original Direction.
