Fox news interviewed real estate expert John McGeough of McGeough Lammachio Real Estate regarding the hottest town in Massachusetts. McGeough Lammachia Real Estate recently ranked the most popular towns in MA Real Estate based on the 2nd quarter of 2013. Upton tied for first and is listed as second as a result of a tie breaker (they don’t say what the tie breaker was). According to McGeough when it comes to the hottest towns it’s all about location and what the town has to offer.
McGeough said in the interview on Fox 25 “Upton came in at 100% increase total sales. Upton is right in that wedge, 495 to mass pike, and has one of the highest home ownership rates we’ve seen in any town at 87%. And it’s had a huge rise in population.”
From the McGeough Lammachia “25 Hottest Town in Massachusetts” list…
Upton had 40 home sales in Q2, an increase of 100% compared to the second quarter last year. The median price for a home in Upton is $353,000, an increase of almost 7%. Upton has experienced a huge surge in population which is now 7,542, 33% higher than it was in 2000. Located in south central Worcester County, Upton is has easy access to both route 495 and the Mass Pike and is just 45 minutes from Boston. Upton residents enjoy the abundant open space available to them, like Whitney Conservation Area, Lake Wildwood Park, and Upton State Forest.
