Should entry level fast food workers make $15 an hour? – take the poll

pollWorkers from several fast food chains walked off the job earlier this past week demanding $15 an hour.

What do you think, do you think entry level fast food employees should make a minimum wages of $15 an hour … take the poll

  1. People should be fairly compensated and be able to support themselves and their families. Currently taking public assistance pays better than a fast food job. THAT is backwards and encourages socialism, not the values this country was founded with. The $15.00/hr is something a person should be able to work up to at the very least. Not work for five or ten years @ $8.50/hr. because that is the only job you are either capable of or that is available to you. Working people are trying to do the right thing instead of sucking off those capable of making a decent wage. Half of this country is enslaved paying for those that have figured out or are working “the system”. I work full time and very often two jobs and I don’t have the health care coverage that these people do. I would LOVE a $3.00 co-pay for my prescriptions instead of the $20 or $40 + I currently pay. Or have my doctor visits covered instead of the 60% insurance only covers. Or no co-payment instead of the $150 per visit to the ER. It is a big bite out of my paycheck and knowing that I am also paying for “the other half” that does not work; a good portion of which are 20 something year old kids, breeders, and the lazy people really frosts my cupcake. I do not begrudge the older folk who have worked all their lives; or the legit disable persons that need these services. These were the people this coverage was intended for. Not the giant crop of socially inept, healthy able bodied people with a false sense of entitlement that this country is currently growing. Just my two cents.

  2. I am really surprised by the voting. Why do people want to hold other people down? They complain about too many people getting government assistance and then deny those same people (who are willing and able to work) their right to make a decent wage. If these workers made $15/hour then the corporations will make a slightly smaller grotesque profit margin and our government can go back to taking care of the really needy: the elderly, the sick, etc. I for one am tired of subsidizing these crazy corporations’ crazy profits.

  3. Really surprised by results would love to hear what people’s thoughts are and why they voted this way. My personal opinion is that everyone deserves a living wage. Also just think these people need to get subsidized govt help because they are not getting a living wage. So in essence these billion $ fast food corporations are getting a government handout by not paying them a liveable wage and then it’s our taxes that are essentially being used to take care of these workers needs because the corporations are not. Lets discuss.

  4. College degreed professionals are lucky to get $15/hour these days. I know, I’ve been in that situation recently. With strong computer skills, a professional demeanor and 10+ years of experience, all the job offers came in around $15/hour. Very sad.

Fast food workers should do some research and gain some perspective; either that, or the rest of the world is severely underpaid.

    1. Severely underpaid, in my opinion. And who is responsible? The billion $ corporations and companies that aren’t taking care of their employees. The gap between the richest 1 and 2 % and the rest of us middle class is ludicrous let alone the gap between them and the poorest who work 40 hour weeks and can barely afford to feed themselves. I agree very sad.
