On Monday, September 23, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) announced the list of applicants for Registered Marijuana Dispensaries that are eligible to apply for the second and final phase of the competitive application process. Information will be posted on www.mass.gov/medicalmarijuana.
Grafton is the chosen marijuana cultivation location for Prime Wellness of MA Inc. where they are considering a 30,000 to 50,000 square foot facility at Grafton’s Centech Park. Prime Wellness of MA Inc. is one of the 13 finalists in Worcester Country announced.
Milford is also the chosen location for 2 applicants. One applicant, Bay State Relief, is considering a location for the production end of the business.
Massachusetts voters approved a medical marijuana law permitting a maximum of 35 dispensaries to provide marijuana to patients with medical conditions. Each county in Massachusetts will be limited to five licensed dispensaries.
Martha Coakley ruled towns could not block medical marijuana dispensaries from opening up shops within their borders, although towns would be permitted to adopt zoning rules that limit where dispensaries can set up shop
