This event was postponed until the weekend of November 15/16
Nipmuc Regional High School Juniors Evan Offord, Jack Gallagher, and Tyler Costello are organizing a charity girls basketball AAU tournament for grades 4 thru 12 with all proceeds going towards the American Cancer Society. Evan and Jack are pulling together this effort to raise funds for a great charity while at the same time fulfilling their DECA community project.
DECA is a business-oriented national organization which provides its members with an idea of how things work in the world of business and finance. DECA prepares students to be emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
Evan, Jack, and Tyler selected the American Cancer Society because they have been affected by cancer in some way and they believe most Americans have also been affected by cancer in some way; whether it be a loved one, a friend, or even themselves. Evan, Jack, and Tyler want to join the American Cancer Society and the world to find a cure for cancer and help ease the pain millions of Americans are going through everyday.
The AAU Tournament will be professionally run with veteran officials, and a reasonable fee. The fee is 300 dollars, with a minimum of 3 games guaranteed. The tournament will take place October 19th and 20th in the Mendon-Upton Public Schools (30 miles outside of Worcester). The tournament will take place between 8 am to 5pm.
There is a 5 dollars admission fee per day, for friends and family. Email Evan Offord at eofford7@gmail.com if you wish to participate, with the name of your team, the wanted age division, and number of participating players. If interested, checks can be made out to Gary Perras (who is the DECA Advisor for Nipmuc Regional High School) and mail directly to 90 Pleasant Street, Upton. Please notify Evan that a check is on the way.
