On October 5 the VFW hosted their annual 5k Run to Remember fundraiser with a total of 160 participating.
Patrick Cramer, an 8th grader from Miscoe Hill, finished second over-all with a finish time of 20:16, his 7th grade brother Will wasn’t far behind finishing 7th over-all with a finish time of 21:40. They had their dad beat by at least 6 minutes, Frank Cramer finished at 27:08.
Tim Brien, a Nipmuc HS track member, finished 1st in the 16-19 age group and 6th over-all finishing at 21:37.
The Mendon Upton Regional School district’s superintendent Joseph Maruszczak finished at 25:25, if he was categorized in the the teachers group he would have finished first for that group.
The Nipmuc Girls Volley Ball coach Christine Corey, varisty players Kristen Brien, Lindsey Doyle, Elizabeth Nigro, and Volleyball Boosters Keith Brady, Dan Lynnworth, Pam Brien, Tim Brien and Katelyn Corey helped with registrations. Almost every member of the JV and Varsity volleyball teams either participated or volunteered. Commander Joseph McMahon said, “This Coach and these girls continue to reach beyond themselves to help and support others. It is an honor to know them.”
On the women’s side there were some new records. Meagan DaSilva who was also the top female finisher; by Kristen Legendre for the 0-29 age group; by Dale Fingar for the 50-59 age group and by Linda Usher for the over 60 group.
