The Board of Health moved the deadline to order wheeled, lidded recycling bins to this Friday, Oct 18.
The barrels are similar to the durable Upton trash barrels in design and will hold 64 gallons of recyclables (the current barrels for trash are 96 gallons) which is four times as much as the original issued recycling bins. The barrels will have a lid to prevent recycling from blowing onto streets.
The cost for residents to purchase the barrel is at a reduced contract rate of $42.34, which must be prepaid before an order can be placed. Deadline to purchase the barrels is October, 11.
Purchases can be made by contacting Diane at the Upton Board of Health office or by mailing a check or money order in the amount of $42.34 to the Upton Board of Health, 1 Main Street, Box 3, Upton, MA 01568 to order your barrel.
Barrels will need to be picked up by the resident at the DPW garage upon delivery.
