Statement of Duties: The Council on Aging Director is responsible for the overall operation and facility maintenance of the Senior Center, supervising all staff and volunteers, and developing and implementing programs and services for senior citizens as well as advocating on behalf of seniors with other agencies, health care providers, and citizen groups. Develop, supervise and conduct social, educational, recreational and health and transportation programs for senior citizens, low‐income families and the disabled, provide direct counseling to these groups, prepare and manage the department’s budget, prepare grant applications, manage the Senior Work Off program, Upton Fuel Fund, and other emergency assistance programs, oversee the COA bus transportation program, serve as the Town’s ADA Coordinator, and represent the Town at various events and conferences having to do with serving the elderly, low-income and disabled populations.

Minimum Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor’ Degree in health, human services or a related field, with 3 – 5 years of experience working with the elderly including two years or more in one on one counseling experience, in a social service or public health position or in a related fields; supervisory experience desirable; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Work Schedule: The position requires 40 hours/week 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Starting Salary: $54,037 ‐ $62,149/year plus benefits, DOE.
