Upton Fire – EMS Chief Aaron Goodale received an accreditation certificate from the Massachusetts Fire Service Commission earlier this week during a meeting of the Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts. The Accreditation process validates, through a peer review process that the fire department chief officers have the education, training and experience to lead a Fire and EMS organization in the Commonwealth in Massachusetts. This process insures that fire service professionals are leading fire departments in the Commonwealth. Chief Goodale said, “I am honored to have achieved this certification that will benefit our Department and Community.”
Currently a bill has been filed in the legislature to make fire service accreditation for chief officers a requirement in Massachusetts. Goodale told Upton Daily, “This bill, if passed, would require that fire chiefs, and the assistant or deputy chiefs of all fire departments in the Commonwealth be accredited by the Fire Service Commission.
