Earlier this week the Upton Board of Selectmen approved promoting Shaun Marchand to Lieutenant. Shaun has been a career member of the Upton Fire Department for over 6 years.
The Upton Fire Department is moving towards a company system to cover a portion of the nights 7 days a week. In part of the restructuring the department will have a total of 4 companies with 1 lieutenant for each company. The companies will rotate every 4th night for company coverage. Fire-EMS Chief Goodale advised the selectmen, “This request/recommendation is keeping with this plan.”
Chief Goodale recommended the selectmen appoint Shaun Marchand saying, “Shaun has been a career member here for over 6 years. He’s a very knowledgeable member, he’s a member that our other members turn to for information or help. He’s hard-working and dedicated.” Adding, “I think he is an excellent choice for the position of fire lieutenant.”
The board unanimously appointed Shaun Marchand to the position. Congratulations Shaun!
