Upton Woman Killed in Ambulance Crash

ambulancedeathAn Upton woman died on Tuesday January 21, when the ambulance she was being transported in was struck by a black Mercedes on Route 140 in Milford.

Milford Police Sergeant John Sanchioni identified the woman as Karen Scott, 58 of Upton. Scott was being transported to Milford Regional Medical Center after undergoing medical treatment at a nearby clinic.

A surveillance tape at a nearby location shows the ambulance traveling north bound on Route 140 towards Milford Regional Medical Center at about 11 a.m. when a black Mercedes traveling on Green Street failed to stop at the stop sign and struck the rear of the ambulance. The impact caused the ambulance to roll over. Scott was picked up by another ambulance and transported to Milford Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead. Both paramedics were treated for non life threatening injuries.

Sergeant John Sanchioni said the driver of the black Mercedes, Lisa Zemack of Framingham, will be facing civil charges for failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to grant the right of way at an intersection.
