Back Stage at Miscoe Hill Theater’s production of Circus Olympus last year

On Friday January 31 the Miscoe Hill Theater Group will participate is one of their favorite activities of the year. The One Act Play Competition. The event has become so popular the 7 p.m. showing on Friday night is already sold out. There are tickets available to the 3 p.m. showing which can be purchased online at www.ticketstage.com/T/MHYT

The plays are directed by 8th graders who were chosen based on their knowledge of the theater. The directors select which play they would like to direct, hold auditions, and hire a stage manager. The director and stage manager are in charge of designing props, costumes, sets, and of course directing.

This year there are 5 plays entered in the competition and the students are hoping their play, actors, sets, and director will win one of the distinguished awards. The plays are judged by a panel made up  of adults who have drama experience; historically the judges do not know any of the students and come in from outside the school district.
