Several Upton Fire Fighters have been called out to take a cold water challenge.
What is this all about?
In an effort to raise money for fire fighter charities there has been a social media blitz nationwide of fire fighter/EMS personnel calling each other out to take a cold water challenge in 24 hours or donate $100 to the cause… or both.
What is a cold water challenge? Well the challenges range from jumping into a cold body of water, immersing yourself in a kiddie pool of ice, getting doused with a fire hose, etc.
Fire Lt. Bonnie Lopez, Fire Lt. Shaun Marchand, and Fire Fighter Matt Kerr of the Upton Fire Department accepted a challenge yesterday and donated $10 to Fallen Fire Fighter Fund and jumped into Lake Maspenok off of Crockett Road ~ video below. It looks like Lt. Lopez is wearing a tutu!
As of last night Lt. Lopez had been challenged three times.
Word on the street is Upton Fire/EMS Chief Goodale is considering challenging people to a hot tub challenge ~ he’s a smart man.
Fire Fighter/EMT Seth Grill, Fire Fighter/EMT Zack Ward, Fire Fighter/Paramedic Dave Runyan, Fire Fighter Matt Kerr, Lt Shaun Marchand and Lt. Bonnie Lopez have all taken the challenge so far and more will be taking the challenge.
Upton Daily has a challenge for you… if you haven’t made your donation to Upton Fire/EMS to help purchase new Jaws of Life now is the perfect time.
