Council on Aging – Social Services Coordinator
The Town of Upton seeks to fill the full-time position (35 hours/week) of Council on Aging Social Services Coordinator.
Statement of Duties: The Social Services Coordinator is responsible for performing administrative, technical and professional work planning, coordinating and implementing social services for elders and their families in the community. Position implements outreach programs offered to the Town’s elder citizens, services include case management, fuel assistance, food stamps, counseling to Medicare beneficiaries and general information. The employee also works with families, assists clients with filling out paperwork and applications for a variety of programs, provides advocacy and support to citizens, their families and caregivers, and makes presentations on program services and senior citizen issues. Position also maintains client files, statistics, and works with other social service agencies and town departments. Assists the COA Director, and performs similar or related work as directed.
Minimum Qualifications: Requires a Bachelors’ Degree in the social/human service field and 3 – 5 years of experience working with the elderly in a social service or related field, or any equivalent combination of education and work experience. A valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s license as well as CPR, First Aid Certification is required. Certification in SHINE counseling preferred.
Work Schedule: The position requires 35 hours/week 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Salary range: $19.43 – $22.35/hour plus benefits, DOE.
