All Upton Charter subscribers will need a cable box

charterUpton’s Town Manager Blythe Robinson advised a major change is coming for all Charter Cable TV subscribers on October 14, 2014.

Charter will be switching to all digital, closing out their analog TV channels.

What does this mean for you? If you connect your television directly to the charter cable and are not using a cable box you will no longer be able to receive any channels. Customers will be required to hookup through boxes.

According to Robinson, Charter  is required to notify all subscribers 30 days before this happens so residents have the opportunity to obtain additional boxes to service television. Robinson said the Town has already been notified of the change for their accounts.

  1. Do you know if this means that I’d need an additional 5 boxes to the one I already have? How does this relate to when Comcast comes in?

  2. And this means that after the 1 year of “free” use of your new digital receiver, you’ll have to pay an extra $6.99 a month for the device.
