John Gaskill of Naples, FL, and formerly of Mendon and Upton, passed away on September 19, 2014 at the age of 88. John was best know for his many years as the owner of three restaurants on the Main Street of Milford, Mary Lynn’s, The Soda Shoppe, and Johnny Jacks. Known as “Honest John” to many, he never let anyone go without food regardless of their ability to pay.

He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Dorothy (Murray) Gaskill; three daughters, Lynda Gaskill of Naples, Mary Shanahan of Mesa, AZ, and Marilyn Largey of Lancaster; his grandchildren, Michael Carrabba of Naples, Michelle Carrabba Allen of Oregon, and Colleen Hutchins, Melodie Henry, Jason Henry, and Emily Largey of Massachusetts, along with many great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his son Jack in 1971 and 8 brothers and sisters. His parents were Earle and Myrtle (Warner) Gaskill of Mendon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Salvation Army of Milford, 29 Congress Street, Milford, MA 01757.

Calling hours will be Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton.

Burial will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Gaskill Family Cemetery, George Street, Mendon.
