Bald Eagle in Grafton

On Wednesday, Oct. 8 at about 8:45, my wife Pat and I had the pleasure of looking out from our living room window and watching a male bald eagle perform a soaring dance in the morning wind above the rear of St. Philip Church.

I quickly grabbed my camera and walked down across the grass to the rear of the church hoping to get a picture of him. I looked up into a very tall tree abutting the parking lot and there he was, as magnificent, bold and beautiful as only an eagle can be.

He was probably thinking about a road killed squirrel almost directly below him on Church Street and how he could fetch it without getting himself killed by traffic. I was only able to capture this one image before he flew off toward the center, but what an image it is!

I feel blessed by having been allowed to capture this image of a great bird. I’m sure he will probably be back at a quieter time to pick up the dead squirrel. I hope you enjoy viewing, as much as we have, what I consider to be my once in a lifetime image.
Cordially to all,

Bill Yeomans
