Thelma E. Daubney, 85, of Westerly, R.I. and formerly of Upton, died late Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 in Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London, CT after an illness. Thelma was born in Northbridge, a daughter of the late Henry and Ethel (Culley) Daubney. She worked at the former Kartiganer Hat Company in West Upton and then as a machinist at other area manufacturers, retiring in 1991 from Fenwal Safety in Marlboro before moving to Westerly. She had been a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star in Upton. She leaves a sister, Irene Duhamel, with whom she lived, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was also the sister of the late Sidney, Leslie, Harry, and Phillip Daubney and Doris Bowen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main St., Upton. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, North Main St., Upton. Family and friends are invited to a calling hour at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service on Wednesday.
