Common Core State Standards/PARCC Assessment information Forum in Uxbridge Nov 19

parcccommoncoreCOMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS / PARCC ASSESSMENT INFORMATIONAL FORUM TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 19, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. at the VFW, 16 Cross Rd, Uxbridge, Massachusetts

An opportunity for area residents to meet nationally regarded experts to learn about the centralized Common Core standards being implemented in forty-six states upon our public schools from kindergarten through grade twelve, will be open to the public on Thursday, November 19, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Although the standards have been designed to be imposed throughout public school systems, they are having substantial effects upon parochial, private and home schools. The speakers will address these issues as well.

The informational session will include presentations from Sandra Stotsky, former member of the Common Core Validation Committee, who will explain how she found it necessary to resign from the committee and why she declined to sign off on the standards. Jamie Gass, Director of the Center for School Reform of the Pioneer Institute, will detail how the Common Core was developed and why there is national opposition to the new centralized standards.

The hosts have invited Mitchell D. Chester, the Commonwealth’s Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education to participate in open dialog, and they are reaching out to local superintendents, educators and school committees, seeking to include those who can explain benefits of the standards and the decisions made to adopt them.

This form is being endorsed by Uxbridge Questions Common Core, a group of parents who are concerned about their children’s education now and in the future. It is the consensus that there are deep concerns for parents, grandparents and tax payers in every community regarding Common Core State Standards but there have been few opportunities for people to receive comprehensive truths.

We wish to share this opportunity to learn the facts behind common core and it’s PARCC Assessment. We invite all citizens in Massachusetts to hear the specifics regarding Common Core State Standards on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 7:00pm.
