Meet Gigi – in search of loving home

Meet Gigi, one of the sweetest and most adorable creatures you could ever lay your eyes on. Gigi arrived at Dog Orphans Inc. in Douglas a couple of weeks ago, and has been incredibly timid for the entirety of her time at the shelter thus far. Actually, timid is an extreme understatement. I can guarantee you have never seen a dog that is so petrified of absolutely everyone and everything, and it is so heartbreaking. Gigi was abandoned by her previous owners and was found wandering an empty apartment. It can be assumed from her intense fear of humans that Gigi was badly abused in the past, which is why she has such a hard time trusting humans now. During my personal experience with Gigi, I just sat in her cage with her for a while to see if she would warm up to me a little bit and make the first move towards me. Unfortunately, she cowered in her corner the entire time as if she could not get close enough to that wall and far enough away from me. I decided to slowly approach her and began to calmly rub her back. The good news is that at first, she twitched every time I touched her, but after gently petting her for about fifteen minutes, she stopped the twitching. This proves that Gigi has the potential to become more and more comfortable with people who are always there for her.

Gigi is estimated to be only about a year and a half old, and is fully vetted.  Despite her fears, she shows absolutely no aggression towards anybody who attempts to get close to her. Gigi would feel most comfortable in a small family environment, without young children. If you are interested in giving Gigi the home she deserves and spending the time to give her the tender loving care that she so desperately needs, please call Dog Orphans Inc. at 508.476.1855, or go pay her a worthwhile visit at 90 Webster Street (RTE. 16), Douglas, MA.
