In a way to facilitate conversation today’s suggested topic is ….Should colleges or traditional high schools offer trade classes?
When I was a in high school most schools offered trade type classes where students could learn woodworking, metal skills, cooking/sewing, and minor electrical skills to name a few. The trade schools focused on teaching students the trade but high school offered teaching kids some basic skills.
I recently heard a discussion on the topic. The discussion was geared toward having college add some of these skills courses or offer dual programs. So you could learn how basic plumbing skills so for example you could install your own dishwasher. Or if you wanted to you could get certified as a plumber and get a degree in business.
What do you think about that?
Feel free to discuss or ask other questions.
The VFW proudly hosts a collection box for clothes and shoes that generqates money for the “My One Wish” foundation. Today I noticed someone or someones have dropped their TV sets at that location. Earlier in the year there were other inappropritae items such as mattresses dropped there. If you notice a person discarding such items there, please make note of their license plate number and advise a VFW officer.
Thank you, Joe McMahon, Commander.
