press release from the town of Upton
Winter Weather Advisory
The weather forecast for Saturday through Tuesday morning promises more snow for our area. Our Public Works crew is ready to plow roads throughout this series of storms; however we are experiencing a shortage of road salt. We are not alone in this situation, there is a sufficient amount of salt in the region, however given the reoccurring storms, and deliveries to all of the area towns are behind schedule. We will be rationing our supply in order to be able to use it when it is most important to do so, and we’ll also be using a mixture of sand and salt or sand only as needed.
Thus on behalf of all of our public safety staff we caution residents to exercise more care in driving over the next few days. Please consider lowering the speeds at which you travel and giving extra time to stop.
Now there’s a shocker. It seems they’re just full of good news over there at town hall these days!
