Letter: Thank You

thankyouOn behalf of the Forward ’15 Ballot Committee, we would like to offer a formal note of thanks for the tremendous support demonstrated by voters on June 30th. Residents listened to the challenges presented and gave thoughtful consideration in response to the school committee’s budget request. We are extremely grateful that the communities were able to work cooperatively toward a successful resolution of the MURSD budget.

The voters of Mendon and Upton have come to understand the needs of the regionalized school district through this process. The school district is now able to invest in the strategic plan and meet the state’s funding requirements. These critical elements support both the MURSD mission of providing a competitive advantage for students to succeed in the 21st century global economy and its vision of being a model regional school community known for excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.

The successful passage of the override would not have been possible without the passion, dedication, and tireless support of committed volunteers from Mendon and Upton. We are so very thankful for the hard work exhibited on various levels over these past several months. The commitment of our volunteers was exemplary and we appreciate their unwavering support.

We urge the community to remain active and informed about matters involving the school system and our towns.Funding will remain challenging as financial responsibility for our schools continues to shift from the state to local budgets and will require continual discussion and evaluation. We encourage you to stay engaged in town discourse, attend school committee and town meetings, serve in a volunteer capacity, and contribute whatever you can as a stakeholder in this community. Let’s continue to ensure a quality education for the next generation. Thank you!

  1. I cannot thank the ballot committee and all of the volunteers enough for the incredible work they did in getting the override passed in both towns. A tremendous weight has been lifted.
