Upton Mom Organizes Children’s Sale
What: Semi-Annual, Baby, Children & Maternity Consignment Event
When: August 14-16, 2015
Where: Northbridge High School 427 Linwood Ave. Whitinsville, MA 01588
Deja Vu Couture began in 2010 as a small event organized by two Northbridge moms who wanted to have one place to buy and sell gently used, good quality, and reasonably priced items for their families. Upton mom, Jeracah Rankins, began as a shopper, consignor, and volunteer as a way to save money for her growing family. Jeracah fell in love with these events and was heart-broken this past spring to learn the owners would not be continuing the sales. Realizing the impact these events have had on saving the budgets of local families, including her own, Jeracah negotiated an agreement and became the new owner of Deja Vu Couture. Jeracah is looking forward to continuing the tradition of offering a resource for families to find great savings while putting some money back into their pockets.
Deja Vu Couture is a semi-annual consignment event that allows local families to easily sell their outgrown/unused baby, children, & maternity items to other parents. Most of us are well aware that kids grow out of their belongings long before they are worn out. Deja Vu Couture sees this as such a wonderful opportunity for parents and grandparents to clean closets, make some extra cash and shop for wonderful kids items. We do all the set up, advertising, clean up, and selling at a large event – taking the tiresome burden off of families and filling a need for quality children’s things at a fraction of the cost (typically 50%-90% below retail). In addition to quality clothing, you can also expect to find outdoor playground equipment, movies, toys for all ages, games, books, strollers, nursery equipment/furniture, women’s accessories, and countless other items at the upcoming sale representing brand names such as Gymboree, Little Tikes, Step One, Fisher Price and Leap Frog. Shoppers will find items well-organized, all clothing on hangers and sorted by gender and size. Volunteers, who help run every aspect of the event, shop before everyone else and even make a higher percentage for the items they sell (up to 75%).
A consignor at Deja Vu Couture can sell all their items at one time with no negotiating, and sets the price they want for an item. Prior to the sale, consignors drop off their items at a scheduled time. After the sale, consignors pick up any unsold items and then wait for the check to arrive in the mail. Consignors also have the option of donating any unsold items. Each year Deja Vu Couture selects a local charity to pick up unsold items that consignors have chosen to donate. We are proud to announce that this year’s items will be donated to Operation Suitcase, Inc, of Northbridge (www.operationsuitcase.org). Consignors also have access to shop before the public.
