BOSTON – Representative David Muradian (R-Grafton) joined Governor Charlie Baker, Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito, Senate President Stan Rosenberg, and other colleagues in front of the Grand Staircase at the State House in Boston to witness the signing of a bill that will increase the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
The EITC is a refundable tax credit for low to moderate income working individuals and families-particularly those with children. The new law increases the current Massachusetts EITC amount by 50%, which is 23% of the Federal EITC. This extends the maximum state credit from $951 to $1,459, making as much as $500 available in additional support to those who are eligible.
“I was proud to stand with Governor Baker to support this important law,” stated Rep. Muradian. “Over 400,000 low-income families in the Commonwealth will benefit from this important legislation. It will go a long way toward supporting hard-working Massachusetts citizens who need a little help making ends meet.”
