The Upton Police are reporting that on Saturday, December 5, 2015, the Upton Police and EMS departments responded to the intersection of Maple Avenue and Main Street for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. According to the police, there were no serious injuries as a result of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.

This is the second pedestrian accident to happen at the Maple Ave/Main Street/Hartford Ave North intersection since September when a teen was struck crossing against the light.

The Upton Police said, “We would like to remind motorists to use increased caution at intersections, especially where crosswalks are present. Pedestrians are also reminded to utilize crosswalks and walk signals when they are available.”

The Maple Ave/Main Street/Hartford Ave North intersection will be addressed as part of the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) project scheduled to take place in 2019. The plan includes upgrading the safety signals at the intersection.
