Nipmuc students Katie Sauer, Mackenzie Callahan, and Paige Murphy are hosting a raffle night on Saturday, December 12 at the Rose Garden to raise money for local animal shelters. The event is for families, adults, and everyone in between.
The girls said the idea to raise funds for animal shelters stemmed from their love of dogs, “We all own or have previously owned shelter dogs. We want to help solve the problem with animal shelters not having enough resources to take care of animals as well as they can,” they said.
Katie once worked with a local shelter to re-home a dog, “I was impressed by how much the volunteers cared for the animals but it’s hard to take care of animals, especially when most shelters are non-profit and run virtually entirely on donations,” she said.
The funds raised will benefit two shelters; MSPCA-Angell in Boston and Buddy Dog Human Society in Sudbury. They are hoping to raise enough funds to make a donation to BayPath In Hopkinton.
In addition to the Beans for Barks Raffle Night, the girls are selling limited addition Red Barn Coffee in the flavor of your choice and have set up a GoFundMe for people who would like to contribute to their cause.
Coffee can be purchased by emailing ksauer17@yahoo.com. It’s $12 for a pound ($6 goes towards the cause). The bag is custom designed with the logo “Beans for Barks – Warm, Bold, and Full of Character Just Like Our Buddies.”
The Coffee is a great gift idea for any animal lover who enjoys a cup of joe. COFFEE FLAVORS: Red Barn Blend (mild central South African blend), Red Barn Decaf (medium roast, blended), French Roast (Red Barn’s Darkest Roast), Pumpkin Pie (rich pumpkin pie flavor with warm spices), Frosty’s Favorite (graham cracker, vanilla, hazelnut and warm cinnamon), and Sea Salt Caramel Mocha (smooth caramel with warm chocolate)
If you can’t make the raffle event you can purchase raffle tickets by contacting ksauer17@yahoo.com.
