Channel 7 news is reporting authorities have identified the remains found in Upton on Sunday.
Family members tell 7News the remains have been identified as James Robertson, of Avon, who went missing on New Years Day in 2014.
The family says State Police notified them of the identification.
Police say a hunter found the remains in a wooded area off Mendon Street.
Four people are accused of kidnapping Robertson.
