Spectra Energy is holding a public meeting on January 25 at the Highfields Golf Country Club, 42 Magill Drive, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. regarding their plan to expand the Algonquin Gas Transmission Pipeline through multiple communities, including Upton.
The project is part of the Access Northeast project, an existing 125-mile natural gas pipeline that runs from New York to Massachusetts. It is being developed by National Grid, Eversource Energy and Spectra Energy, which is affiliated with Algonquin. The new line, referred to as the West Boylston Lateral, would run through Milford, Upton, Grafton, Sutton, Shrewsbury, Boylston and West Boylston. The line would connect to the Q-Loop Link in Milford.
The pipeline would affect Upton residents living along the existing National Grid high tension wires since the pipeline will likely be installed along a similar line.
