Evelyn R. (Taylor) Allen, 93, a long-time resident of Upton, passed away January 26, 2016 in Beaumont Nursing Center in Northbridge, where she had resided for the past eight years. Her husband, Melvin C. Allen, preceded her in death in 2004.
Mrs. Allen was born in Mendon, one of 12 children of Lee and Nettie (Hartling) Taylor, and lived in Upton her entire married life. She was a graduate of Hopedale High School and was a machine operator at Bay State Abrasives in Westborough for over 25 years.
She leaves one son, Bruce Allen of Mendon; one daughter, Melva Allen of Upton; a sister, Lillian Thompson of Holden; one brother, Richard Taylor of NC; two grandchildren, Robin Riel of Mendon and Gary Allen of Charlton; six great-grandchildren, Nathan, Courtney, Kayla, Andrew, Sara, and Patrick; and two great-great-grandchildren, Nolan and Parker, who gave her great happiness and whom she adored.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 30, at 11 a.m. in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main St., Upton. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
A calling hour at the funeral home will be from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday.
