A Special Town Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 7 pm at Nipmuc HS. The Town is looking to amend the 2016 budget by transferring approximately $53,400 from the free cash line to various town departments as outlined below.
Included in the article is a request to move $20,000 from free cash to town council expenses. Town Manager Blythe Robinson said the Town faced several legal expenses which were unforeseen; the condemnation of a house on Hopkinton Road, a lawsuit involving a parcel of land owend by the Town that the plantiff alleges is not town-owned, a union grievance going to arbitration, and a private lawsuit, not against the town, which required town employees to be called for depositions.
The other adjustments noted below will allow the town to provide a one percent cost of living adjustment to town employees.
