Bellingham PD Conducting Investigation After Market Basket Plaza Evacuated

On Wednesday, March 16, 2016, Bellingham Fire and Police responded to the Market Basket Plaza on Hartford Avenue after a tied-down pressure cooker was found in a shopping cart between Market Basket and Barnes and Noble.

According to police, no threats were received. The Bomb Squad was called to the scene and the entire strip mall was evacuated.

The Bellingham Police Department said, “The item at Market Basket was determined to be an empty pressure cooker. It is unknown at this time if the item was left to create a panic.”

Bellingham Police will be conducting an investigation to attempt to identify who discarded the item.
