There are exciting things going on at Nipmuc and one of them is Boys Varsity Volleyball.
Head Coach Brian Girard said this is the first year for the boys to have a recognized varsity program.
Volleyball was first introduced in the fall of 2011. The girls program hit the ground running. It took a little longer to grow the boys program.
On April 5 Nipmuc took on Blackstone Valley Tech at home.
Senior captain and middle hitter Austin Franzosa dished eight kills, nine digs, an ace, and two blocks defeating Blackstone Valley Tech in their first match ever, 25-13, 25-11, 25-21.
Tyler Calnan led the team in serves with four aces.
Setter Justin DiAntonio had twenty assists and two aces while Tyler Calnan had four aces, one kill, one block, and two digs.
Will Applegate had two kills and three digs and Mark Jango had four digs and one kill.
