Upton Schedules Community Forum To Discuss Proposed Algonquin Gas Pipeline

On Wednesday, May 25th at 6 p.m. in the Main Hall at Town Hall the Board of Selectmen together with the Board of Health, Planning Board, Green Community Committee and Conservation Commission and residents will meet to discuss the proposed Algonquin gas pipeline project. Part of that project is to build a new spur off the main line called the “West Boylston Lateral” of which four miles would come through Upton in the area of the high tension electricity lines.

A formal application to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is not being made until November of this year. FERC has reviewed a preliminary application and based upon that is seeking comments on various issues including public safety, project reliability, environmental concerns and impacts on land use and ground water.

The Selectmen have convened this meeting to gather input that will help the Board formulate a response from the Town. This is a public meeting, all residents are invited to attend.

Comments are encouraged! If this is your first time commenting (welcome!). Your email is required but not displayed. I ask town officials to use their real names.
