The Upton Center is hoping there are members of the community who have the time to get involved with Upton Seniors. Either to help out with current needs or to bring forward new programs.
Currently the Meals on Wheels program is looking for delivery drivers and volunteers to prepare and serve meals. “You choose how often you’d like to help,” said Department Specialist Bernadette Denson. Drivers can bring their young kids along to deliver meals. “The seniors love to have young visitors,” she said. If interested contact Al Vautour at 508-529-9094.
Denson said the Center would love to hear from anyone who has a hobby or interest they would be willing to share with the Seniors.
Anyone with a disability or close to someone with a disability who might have insight on the needs of those with disabilities should consider joining Upton’s Commission on Disability.
The COA Board is seeking new members and you don’t have to be a senior to join. The Board meets monthly, the first Monday of the month at 10:30 at the Upton Center. If interested consider stopping by for a meeting to see what it’s all about. September’s meeting will be held on 9/12 due to the Labor Day holiday.
Fore more details on volunteer opportunities contact Janice Nowicki, COA Director, at 508-529-4558.
Do you have a bench you can donate? The Center is currently in need of a bench for the Seniors at Coach Road. This will provide Seniors who do not drive a place to sit while waiting for van rides.
