Representative David K. Muradian, Jr. (R-Grafton) is excited to join the Upton Fire Department in sponsoring a community CPR training night on Thursday, October 6th from 5:30-9:00pm at 20 Church Street in Upton.
On average, more than 350,000 people go into cardiac arrest outside of a hospital or medical unit each year, yet only 46% of people receive CPR. Within these four training hours, participants will learn important skills that can potentially help save a life, some of which include:
- Assess an individual and determine whether or not they are in need of CPR.
- Take control of a situation and learn the proper protocol when an individual is in need of help.
- Perform applicable CPR skills at an appropriate level.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to host a community CPR class for the citizens of Upton,” stated Rep. Muradian. “CPR is an important skill for our citizens to learn, especially babysitters, teachers, and those who live with the elderly. I hope that this class will help make Upton at least a little safer.”
The class itself will be offered to the first 10 people who register with the fire department at jearle@uptonma.gov. Participants must be at least 18 years of age or older.
Any constituent who wishes to speak to Representative Muradian or his staff please call (617) 722-2240.
