Upton’s blue fire truck during wet-down ceremony on June 2, 2014 and peanut butter
As part of Upton’s Heritage Day Celebrations the Upton Fire Department will open their doors for families to join them for a day full of fire trucks. Lots of trucks will be on display and the departments will be offering fire truck rides. The event is running between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the station located at 20 Church Street.
Now you’re probably wondering why you should bring peanut butter.
The department is participating in a friendly competition with other fire departments to see who can raise the most weight in peanut butter to help Mission of Hope International, in Grand Grove Haiti. The peanut butter will be sent to Haiti to feed the hungry.
The fire department who raises the most weight in peanut butter wins the golden peanut butter jar trophy.
This is Upton’s first year competing in the challenge! Let’s help them win!
