Sen. Moore Seeks Suggestions for State House Display

massstatehouse

Dear Neighbor,

I am pleased to announce an opportunity to showcase the unique cultural and artistic identity of the Second Worcester District.  I am seeking one item that will be featured in a display case at the Massachusetts State House to represent our District.

Each Senator has been requested to submit one item which will be on display for viewing by Legislators and members of the general public.  As you may know, the Second Worcester District is comprised of eight communities including Auburn, Grafton, Leicester, Millbury, Northbridge, Shrewsbury, Upton and Worcester.  The display case will hold one item from each of the forty senatorial districts within the Commonwealth.

I am writing to solicit your suggestions and recommendations for an item to place in the display case.  The item must not be perishable, and should be no more than 18 inches tall.  The theme of the display celebrates Massachusetts’ creative economy.  Items that are three dimensional and are visually artistic or creative, and are representative of the local community, are appropriate.

Viable suggestions may include hand blown glass, a sculpture, jewelry, a creative item from recycled materials, a miniature painting, a small musical instrument, folk art, photograph, an ornament, stained glass, scrimshaw, pottery, etc.

If you are interested in offering an item for consideration, please complete the online submission form and share a photo of the item by the end of business day Friday, December 23, 2016.  The selected item will be placed on locked display at the State House until the end of the 2016-2017 legislative session after which time it will be returned to the owner.

It is an honor and privilege to serve the Second Worcester District in the Massachusetts State Senate.  I appreciate your time and attention to this request.  Please do not hesitate to contact my office with any questions.

Sincerely,

MICHAEL O. MOORE
State Senator
Second Worcester District
